        MILCO GEORGIEVSKI (1955) graduated Art historian from the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Art History and Archaeology at the University of SS Cyril and Methodius, Skopje (1984). Since 01. 03. 1986 employed in the NI Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments and Museum-Ohrid  as a curator, specialist for icon-painting in the Department of Medieval Art. At present, at position of Advisor Curator, in charge of the permanent collection of the Icon Gallery-Ohrid since 1996 and author of its new conception (2000). Working tasks: research, registration and documentation of icons; preparation of Projects for conservation of icons; organization and displaying of icon exhibitions as well as publishing the results of the research in the field of icon painting. In the past years a member of the Macedonian National Committee of ICOMOS (International Council of Monuments and sites), Macedonian National Committee of ICOM (International Council of Museums) and National Focal Point for World Cultural Heritage, appointed by the Ministry of Culture. Participated in many seminars, congresses, workshops and gave lectures and presentations connected with the cultural and natural heritage, its protection and presentation as well as tourism development:

  • September, 13-17, 1997 - "Integrating Cultural Heritage into National Disaster Planning, Mitigation and Relief"-an international workshop organized by the Macedonian   National Committee of ICOMOS, Skopje-Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia.

 

  • June, 18-24, 2000 - "Integrated Urban Conservation and Urban Archaeology"-an international training workshop and seminar for Central European historic city managers organized by the Hungarian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, UNESCO and ICCROM, Budapest-Noszvaj, Hungary.

 

  • May, 23-25, 2002 - "Agro-tourism in the region of Ohrid and Prespa Lakes"-an international seminar organized by the German Society for Technical Co-operation (GTZ), Korca, Albania.

 

  • September, 06-18, 2004 - "Cultural Tourism: Promotion and Management of Heritage Sites"-7th UNESCO International Summer School on the Preservation of Cultural Heritage organized by the Polish National Commission for UNESCO and the Municipality of Zamosc in collaboration with UNESCO (Paris), Division of Cultural Heritage and UNESCO Office in Venice (ROSTE), Zamosc, Poland.

  • May 19, 2008 - Lecture with presentation entitled "Natural and man-made disasters with practical examples" to the students of the study group for Security and Financial Control which is a joint study group of the Police Academy from Skopje and the Faculty of Tourism and Cattering from Ohrid.

  • October 13-18, 2008 - Final Revue Meeting of MEP-TIEM SEE programme-an international course organized by MEP (Museums Emergency Programme), UNESCO, ICOM, ICCROM and the Getty Conservation Institute in collaboration with ICOM-SEE, Donja Stubica, Croatia.

  • September 28-30, 2009 - Second Regional Meeting of Museologists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia and Macedonia (theme: "Museums and Tourism")-organized by the National Committee of ICOM of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

  • November 16-18, 2009 - "Bringing exhibitions alive: techniques and ideas"-an international workshop organized by CHwB (Cultural Heritage Without Borders) from Stockholm, Sweden and the National Museum from Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia.

 

  • December 14-16, 2009 - "Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage for Sustainable Development-Integrating the Management plan for the Natural and cultural Heritage of the Ohrid region", capacity building workshop organized by UNESCO Office in Venice-Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe (UNESCO-BRESCE) and the World Heritage Centre (WHC) in cooperation with: Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia, Ministry of Environmenmt and Physical Planning of the Republic Macedonia, National Commission for UNESCO of the RM, Municipality of Ohrid and Faculty for Tourism and Cattering-Ohrid, Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia.

  • January 2010 - Member of the Working group for preparation of the Management Plan for the Cultural Heritage of the Ohrid Region, the only site in the Republic of Macedonia proclaimed by UNESCO as universal natural and cultural heritage.

 

  • February 10-20, 2011 - "Medieval tradition of the icon painting in Macedonia", lectures in various institutions in nine Dutch cities: at the universities in Leidеn and Nijmegen, in the Museum of icons in Kampen, the Museum Cathаrijneconvent in Utrecht, in the A. A. Bredius Foundation in the Hernen Castle and in the cultural centers in Arnhem, Drachten, Мalden and Oosterhout.

 

  • September 13-16, 2012 - "Cultural Heritage Management-Inspirational Models and Approaches", regional seminar organized by CHwB (Cultural Heritage Without Borders) from Stockholm, Sweden, Gjirokastër, Albania.

 

  • November 11-17, 2013 - "Touch the Culture-Feel the Art-access and inclusion", training workshop for enabling better access to the blind and visually impaired people to the venues with existing museum collections and exhibits in Ohrid. The Project is financed by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and implemented by the NI Institute and Museum-Ohrid in collaboration with the Union of blind people from Ohrid. Partners of the Project are CHwB (Cultural Heritage Without Borders) from Stockholm, Sweden and the Balkan Museum Network, Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia.

  • December 15-16. 2016 - "Icon Gallery in Ohrid-Treasury of Byzantine and post-Byzantine art", lecture in the Academy of Science and Art of the Republic Srpska in Banja Luka and "Planning, proper handling and packaging as a precondition for the safe transportation of museum objects", lecture for museum professionals in the Museum of the Republic Srpska in Banja Luka.
